Welcome
Hello! My name is Adam Gesk.
I'm a Digital Transformation Leader located in beautiful Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This website provides a small window into my leadership style, work history and past projects.
I drive the continuous improvement of people, teams, products + process, by leveraging data + digital solutions in an iterative and agile fashion.
About my approach to digital transformation:
I collaborate with:
Business leaders to understand business objectives and challenges.
I collaborate business managers to understand workflow, inputs and outputs.
I collaborate with tech experts to understand systems, roadmaps and possibilities.
Then I iterate through improvements, connecting the dots by deconstructing the status quo through analysis and problem solving, and rebuilding in an agile manner to support scalable and sustainable growth and continuous improvement.
About my leadership style:
I'm a servant leader. I believe in providing each team member with an understanding of the organizational objectives and how the team fits in, team objectives and how the individual fits in, and individual objectives and how I can enable them. I strive to gain an understanding of their passions and help to identify both job and career goals. Finally, I relentlessly guard their focus by removing blocks, continuously reviewing deliverables and work-in-progress, and taking extreme ownership of the teams goals and performance.
About executing with speed:
I follow two maxims above all:
"Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." Strive for perfection, but continue to deliver results in the meantime.
The Colin Powell 40/70 rule - "When faced with a big decision, Powell made sure he had at least 40 percent but no more than 70 percent of the information he needed to make a call." ROI shouldn't be calculated after strategy and design are completed. The resources utilized during the initial phases of a project, as well as the opportunity cost of not acting or acting to slowly, are hidden killers in both the success of a project, and the momentum of the team. Instead, by focusing on a minimally viable product, I push the team to build and deliver, and let the customer drive future phases of work.
